Well, my peeps, 2013 is kicking my butt! In ways large and small; all of them unbloggable. But I am still here and still knitting. As our hero Elizabeth says, “Knit on, with confidence and hope, through all crises.” And while the knitting is therapeutic, I am not sure the results are better than “meh.” See what you think.
I finished a hat:
This is Rikke, knit in Acadia from The Fibre Company, color Granite. I added slipped stitch mods just for fun. (Every eighteenth stitch, every other round) I like the end result and it makes a warm and slouchy hat that even I look good in. (not true of all hats, by a long shot) I love the yarn, too. Lovely to knit with and great texture.
I’m just not sure about the yarn and the pattern together. This is a pattern I will revist with a different yarn, someday.
I finished the second Pinion mitten. And the knitting goddess laughed.
Yes, there is a slight gauge issue. No, I don’t know why. Same yarn, same needles, same knitter. The downside to sideways knitting is that I can’t just frog the tip back and shorten the mitten. I love this pattern and really enjoyed the Loft yarn. Someday, when I am feeling stronger, I will reknit the second mitten. Sigh.
I have some wee knitting to show you as well. As my friend Marsha said, “Lee, your knitting is getting so tiny soon you’ll be knitting mouse clothes.” She was referring to this:
PS–how do you feel about sentence spacing? Apparently, dinosaurs like me still use the double space between sentences but the new way is single space. I’m not sure I can change but should I try? I did in the post above but it mostly involved going back and “correcting” the double spaces. I didn’t in this postscript.
