Squares

In September I introduced you to Charlotte–my version of the Carl and Carla baby blanket.  I was playing with color and thinking of making it into a shawl.  As the knitting progressed it became clear that the fabric was not drapey enough for a good shawl.  At least to my mind.  But I have kept knitting it, because I love it.

See, almost done!  And my fox pillow likes the colors!

Even though I had rejected the idea of a Charlotte shawl I still wanted to design something with miters.  I love knitting them and wanted to make an intro pattern for people who find the idea intimidating.  So, cowl fanatic that I am, I cooked up a plan for a mitered squares cowl to make to wear at Rhinebeck. I picked out yarn from Dalis Davidson’s Dancing Leaf Farm-a lovely wool and silk blend called Hustle.  Here is a peek from Rhinebeck–

You didn’t think I would actually finish it in time to wear it, did you?  It took at little more finagling than I had anticipated but it is finished now.  Paint Box (for that is it’s name) has had its photo shoot and I need to send it to the talented Katherine to tech edit.  I’ll let you know when it is up.  If you are in the area, I’ll be teaching a class using  Paint Box to teach mitered squares and three-needle bind off at The Yarn Spot in December.  Deets to follow.

It is beautiful Lee. Nice job with the photography, too.
